By Vagabond Fly’s Pieter Taljaard
WILD CoolersTM has kindly given the Vagabond Fly Editors, Pieter & Colin, one of their WILD 60 cooler boxes each to use, abuse, test, review and customize as we see fit. Though this is not a product review as we have only had these for a few weeks, on a recent trip to Tourette Fishing’s Makhangoa Community Camp in Lesotho’s back-country my WILD 60 kept my beers ice cold for 6 days with only 2 bags of ice that I chucked in the evening before we left.
The initial idea was to slap it full of stickers but as lady-luck would have it our own Vagabond Fly Artist, Johann du Preez, is a resident guide at the camp and after seeing his latest work and sketches it was a no-brainer as to what needs to go onto the lid of my WILD 60.
What makes it even more special, for me personally, is that the first time I fished the Bokong close on 3-years ago it was with Johann when he was still a student dealing with life’s hardest decision – do I go into corporate or do I follow my dreams! Now when I look at him in guide mode (after completing his Masters in Architecture I might add) and seeing how incredibly happy he is it is crystal clear that his latest work reflects his current state of mind.
Do what makes YOU happy! Cannot think of a better piece of art to decorate my cooler box – thanks bro!
Johann can be contacted on firstname.lastname@example.org for any custom pieces and artwork.
